As Israel continues through the wilderness, God leads them through difficult situations that teach them to trust His love and care. When the people find themselves without water, they doubt God and accuse Him of bringing them out to die, yet He responds with grace and provides water from the rock, pointing forward to Jesus. Later, when Amalek attacks, Joshua fights in the valley while Moses prays on the mountain, with Aaron and Hur holding up his weary hands. Through both trials, God shows His people that He is with them, patiently growing their faith and teaching them to depend on Him and one another.
