Pastor Rick finishes the Beatitudes by showing how God’s work within us begins to shape the way we live toward others. As we receive God’s mercy, we learn to show mercy; as He cleanses our hearts, we see Him more clearly; and because Jesus has made peace between us and God, we can carry His peace to others. Following Jesus will also bring opposition, but rejection and suffering do not remove God’s blessing or the hope believers have in eternity. The Beatitudes ultimately picture a journey with Jesus that begins with recognizing our desperate need for Him and ends with faithfully following Him all the way home.
