Matthew 3:13–17 — The Baptism of Jesus
Jesus' baptism marks the beginning of His public ministry and reveals the heart of His mission. In Matthew 3:13–17, Pastor Rick explains why the sinless Son of God chose to be baptized, not because He needed repentance, but because He came to identify with the sinners He would save. The message explores Christ's humility, His perfect obedience to the Father's plan, and the significance of baptism as a public identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. As the Father declares His pleasure in the Son and the Holy Spirit descends upon Him, we are given a beautiful picture of the Trinity at work in the plan of redemption. Ultimately, this study reminds us that Jesus entered our brokenness to rescue us, and through faith in Him we are welcomed into a restored relationship with the Father.
