Pastor Rick begins the Sermon on the Mount by looking at the first four Beatitudes and what they reveal about a life lived under the rule of Jesus. Being poor in spirit means recognizing our need for God, mourning means grieving over sin, meekness means surrendering our will to the Lord, and hungering and thirsting for righteousness means desiring what God desires. Together, these Beatitudes show a progression of drawing closer to Jesus as we recognize our need, confess our sin, surrender our plans, and allow Him to change our hearts. The message encourages us to keep looking to Jesus and let our hearts and lives increasingly line up with Him.
