Jesus did not come to discard the Law and the Prophets, but to bring everything they pointed toward to its fulfillment in Himself. The law reveals the depth of God’s standard and our inability to meet it on our own, pointing us to our need for a Savior. Jesus lived the perfect life we could not live, took our guilt upon Himself, and gives His righteousness to those who trust in Him. We do not obey God to earn salvation; we are saved by grace through faith, and from that salvation God begins changing our hearts and teaching us how to live.
