The Bible begins, "In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth." It's one short sentence which goes to the furthest distance in proclaiming the power of the Almighty. After creation was complete, He didn't want His creation to ever forget what He had done. So He made a memorial to Creation that would stand for all time.
